The Administrative and Public Law Section is a voluntary organization
within the State Bar of Texas and consists of more than 1,000 licensed
attorneys throughout Texas who represent clients before, or are
employed by, a variety of state and federal agencies, boards and
commissions. The Section's members also represent clients in state
and federal judicial proceedings in which agency decisions or actions
are litigated.
The purpose of the Administrative and Public Law Section is to promote and enhance the practice of law by administrative lawyers. The Section regularly publishes the Texas Tech Journal of Texas Administrative Law, which presents law review articles and other scholarly works on a variety of administrative law issues. The Section also co-sponsors an annual Advanced Administrative Law Seminar which has traditionally served as the training program for attorneys seeking certification in administrative law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. The Administrative and Public Law Section also provides such valuable services such as the tracking and summarization of legislation which has a significant impact on the practice of administrative law and the identification of pro bono opportunities for administrative lawyers. Of course, the Section is also developing the Administrative and Public Law Section Home Page which will serve as a high-tech information resource for the Section's membership. The Section's policies and activities are governed by the Administrative and Public Law Council which is comprised of administrative lawyers and judges who are elected by the Section's membership. The Council generally meets on a monthly basis to deliberate on Section business. |
